Getting the Right Baseball and Softball Equipment for Your Kid

Having equipment that fits properly is not only good for safety, but also performance. Here are some tips on how to find the right equipment for your kiddo:

Gloves – the right shaped glove for the position on the field matters at higher levels of the game. And, having the right glove will help you player further develop their skills in the position. This video from Just Gloves.com is super helpful in determining the size and type of glove for your baseball kiddo.  And, here’s a great video to help you find the right mitt for your softball player.

Bats – All bats are not created equal. Each level of baseball has certain requirements for bats. Check with your coach or league for the specific requirements for your kiddo. Having the correct length bat will help your child develop great batting skills. Finding the right softball bat means understanding the league’s rules and your player’s size. Helmets – Avoiding head injuries is so important today. The more we learn about concussions, the more we value helmets. According to this video from Dick’s Sporting Goods, make sure the helmet is comfortable, fits right, and  is safe – which means its designed for the purpose being used and is approved by NOCSAE, an organization whose main purpose is to set the safety standards for sports helmets.
